UFC 105 Predictions

Wow November is the month of MMA. We have tons of events this month and on November 14th we are greeted by UFC 105. The headlining fight is Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera. So lets jump right into the predictions.

Randy Couture vs. Brandon Vera
This fight I will have to give to Randy, lets not even go into the whole "hes 40+ years old its time to retire". Randy is still a monster. Yes hes lost back to back. But those loses weren't crappy performances.Vera on the other hand, after he dropped down to 205lb. Hasn't displayed that much of his brilliance when he was considered a monster at heavyweight.

Randy I believe has more ways to win this fight. Starting on the ground, I do believe Couture is a better wrestler even though these 2 have met at the Olympic center. Couture was a Olympic alternate and Vera was just a guy there that was a up and comer. So if it hits the ground Couture will have the advantage.

On the feet I have togo with Vera, but the thing is I can't see Vera throwing to many leg kicks as he doesn't want the take down to happen so hes going to limit himself to his technical punching. Randy has enough experience not to get himself into to much trouble from the stand up. So I see Randy closing the distance and controlling Vera in the clinch and taking down Vera and control Vera for 3 rounds yes Vera has better BJJ but if Nog can't submit Couture I can't see Vera submitting him making the ground very safe for Couture, which will translate into Couture earning a decision victory.

Mike Swick vs. Dan Hardy
Both these guys are well rounded. Dan Hardy I would say has more knock out power but Swicks hands are faster and his wrestling is better also Swick has a better training camp then Hardy. Its Swicks fight to lose in my opinion. Expect a decision victory for swick.

Michael Bisping vs. Denis Kang
I never liked Bisping. I actually hate this guy and can't stand anything about him, hes way to cocky when he hasn't performed very good against top level competition. Bisping is over his head in this fight. Kang is a Pride veteran. Known for his well roundness hes fought a whos who on the international circuit. Kang hasn't looked good since coming over to the UFC but I think it has to do with nerves, UFC is the biggest stage in the world and he had a lot to live up to when he came over. Going into this fight theres no pressure on Kang as its in Bispings backyard, I think he can work his magic in this fight to show why hes considered one of the top middleweights in the world. I would also like to add he trained at ATT so I expect the best Kang ever. Expect a decison for Kang

There are 2 other fights on the main card. But I'm not going to lie I have no clue who the fudge these people are so I'm not going to pretend I know these guys and just give someone else prediction.

Strikeforce Predictions(Fedor vs Rogers)

I made a video a few weeks back talking about the upcoming mainevent fight between the best heavyweight in the world of MMA Fedor Emelianenko vs the underdog Brett Rogers. I got mixed reactions to the video. As the hardcore MMA community bashed me for even saying Rogers has a chance.

Well. The thing is, that community isn't really smart and can't think outside the box of where the video direction is going and who its geared towards. I make 2 types of MMA videos. 1st type is a serious video with the predictions thats where im sitting. 2nd type is a hype video to help promote the fight for casual fans that do not know of it, hence I always came back to "Its free".

Thats what the video I made was for. I'm not going to end a video saying "Its one sided" no one would watch the fight if its one sided. So on my blog site this is where the serious predictions come in.

Main Event
Fedor Emelianenko vs. Brett Rogers
Lets not even go over records. If your a Fedor fan you know what hes done. You know Rogers hasn't fought anyone except Arlovski. But Arlovski went into the fight all wrong and that was his down fall. Fedor has outboxed some of the best strikers in MMA(cro-cop in his prime). Cro-Cop has punchs and kicks so theres less predictabilty on where the strikes will come from. Rogers can't kick and I've never seen him kick. So hes a boxer making him a lot more predictable standing up so Fedors technical skills will go a long way in the stand up and stand up is the only chance Rogers has in this fight, and land that lucky shot. But Fedor is such a hard target to hit, I can't see it happening. On the ground Rogers is a fish out of water. Fedor has world class sambo and judo. If it goes to the ground hes done. TKO Fedor Round 2.( I really do think Rogers will do better then everyone thinks. I'm actually betting the fight goes to the 2nd round with my friend giving me 2-1 odds)

Jake Shields vs. Jason Miller
This is a 5 round fight for the middleweight belt in strikeforce. Both these guys are made names in Strikeforce. Lets goto the ground first. Shields I would say has a bit better wrestling and better BJJ. But the thing is Jason Miller did not get submitted by jacare who is a elite BJJ competitor so if it goes to the ground stalemate. Stand up on the other hand. Shields sucks horribly. Shields is not a natural middleweight but lucky for him Miller is a small middleweight himself but the size advantage still goes to Miller. So the superior stand up will play a big factor in this fight. I expect a decison win for Miller. I just checked the odds for this fight. Shields is a big favorite, leaving Miller a +200. I don't understand how they figured the odds out as in my mind this is a very close fight. I would defineatly put a good bet on Miller. Maybe even a parlay with Moussasi and Fedor.

Gegard Mousasi vs. Thierry Sokoudjou
Keep this short and sweet. Sokudjou has looked like crap and his only glory day was knocking out small nog. Mousasi on the other hand has looked unstoppable. Feeding a sheep to a wolf. 1st round TKO Mousasi.

Fabricio Werdum vs. Antonio “BigFoot” Silva
This fight is the 2nd most competitive and probably the most exciting due to them being heavyweights on the card. The fight is simple stay on the feet Silva will win because he has a size/power/reach advantage, goes to the ground Werdum becomes a monster. I think Silva will gas as the guy is huge, he will be able to stuff take downs and keep Werdum at bay for the first round but in the 2nd round he will slow down and the take down will happen eventually. Werdum sub 2nd round.
